Taking a cake break

I am temporarily on a hiatus from making and decorating cakes! However, I will keep everyone posted as soon as I am able to fully commit to making cakes again! I appreciate everyone who has supported me and has had one of my creations! In fact I would love some feedback so that I can return with bigger and better cakes!!! Thank you all!!!

OOOOOH! More Zebra Print! YES!!

I really have come to love making Zebra print cakes! They're so easy to make and make a huge impact! So this cake was made for my goddaughter's Sweet 16 birthday party! The theme was hot pink and black. When I think of my niece I think of trendy, beautiful, sweet and extremely intelligent. I know that a trendy girl would appreciate the hot pink feathers and boa! I actually tried to buy the hot pink ostrich feathers, but they were very expensive and hard to find locally. Instead I went to Joann's fabrics bought a pack of feathers and pipe cleaner and grabbed my glue gun! LOL Yup I made these myself for a fragment of the price! I burned my fingertips a few times but it was totally worth it!! I can't help but quoting my godson who said "That's a SEXY cake"!! lol

What's Black and White with hot pink Converse?

This absolutely wonderful Baby Shower cake that's what! LOL Well when I was asked to make this cake I really jumped at the opportunity. I love hot pink and especially the way it compliments the Zebra print. I was also asked to make some edible baby pink converse. OMG! How adorable is that?! Oh in case you're wondering why there's a Chanel symbol in the center of the cake there's a good reason for that. Apparently the baby girl will be named Channelle....such a cute and meaningful detail! The hot pink bows are such a standout! All I can say is that sometimes I'm amazed I can pull these things off! I love it, someday I'll stop considering myself a novice cake decorator...not quite yet though! ;)

What do you think of the new zebra print and hot pink trend?

Minnie Mouse Returns

You might remember that I made a Minnie Mouse themed cake a while back. If you don't then here's another version of that cake for a 3 year old's birthday party. It is made of chocolate and bavarian cream and tres leches with strawberry filling. The ears are always what bring the cake to life!

Pretty Pink Princess

When you are asked to make a girly princess cake what do you think of? Well this is what I think of! Bows and tiara's:) This was my first attempt at making a hexagon shaped cake. I think it came out well, but I wouldn't mind trying it again with a larger cake. It's very hard to trim off cake when you only have a tiny bit to work with. I had to make sure I didn't make any excessive cuts of cake. I ordered some edible images of Disney princess from Etsy.com. Also, I made the bow in advance and I added a tiara and wand to give it a lot of bling!! My fave girly princess cake to date!

I Always Say "Simple is more Elegant"

A bride on a budget can still have a sophisticated and glamorous cake. All it took to make this cake special was a pretty diamond pattern and some silver ribbon! There are little edible silver sugar beads at each cross point. That detail was quite tedious at times but worth the effort.

The tiers were made from alternating flavors of spiced cake with a hint of banana nut and coconut cream cheese filling and red velvet with cream cheese.

18th Rave

This is a fun cake that really makes a statement. It's super bright, wild and different! I made it for an 18th birthday Rave Theme party. It had floating tier surrounded by red velvet cake bites! Each tier was airbrushed to get the perfect bright color and a yellow border gave it an extra little punch of color! My husband helped me make this very stressful delivery! Stressful but in the end successful!!:)

Sophisticated Purse Cake

I made this cake under quite a time crunch! Normally I would make the purse handle and purse cake with a day to spare. However, this one was done in less than 24 hours! Still I like how it came out in the end! The bottom round cake is tres leches with strawberry fruit filling. The purse is chocolate cake with Bavarian cream filling. I used buttercream icing and covered the purse in red fondant! The bow was way too big for the cake but I made it work somehow:)! I believe it was quite successful and the guests all really liked it!
